Tugende means as much as 'Let's go!'. And that is exactly what this wonderful and peace-loving family did. Dad Koen had the idea to buy the old school bus from the school where he worked and completely convert it into a travelling palace for him, his partner and their three children. Their goal was to be able to travel for at least six months with a custom-made off-grid system.
An ambitious project, as providing a five-member family with all today's electrical comforts is no mean feat. Think charging several laptops and smartphones, running a large fridge and room for lots of lighting in different rooms.
This bus had to be comfortable enough to accommodate the needs of five people. Comfortable living, practical cooking, enough play space and room for education. This was important to this adventurous family.
Wire-Up designed a unique bespoke off-grid system for this project. Here, we combined a beautiful electric Digital Nomad setup with a large LPG gas system. This meant that mum and dad could always cook smoothly and there was always plenty of power on board. So the whole family could take a nice hot shower at all times and let the kids study comfortably without compromising on other electrical facilities.
Extra attention was paid to quality and cozy lighting in this special project. We therefore provided lamps with pleasant light, so that it does not become tiring to work when the sun goes down.
In short, this was a hugely fun, unique and educational project to work on. It gives us immense satisfaction to help an adventurous family realise their off-grid freedom. It is therefore inspiring to see how this family enjoys this on the road! They can now take on any adventure without having to think about their utilities.
